May 2, 2006

Well here we are at 5 months (barely) into the year 2006. Aaron is quickly entering the age of 3. I'll just rename age three the *Age of NON-reason*. My goodness....his personality certainly has changed!

He's still a very sweet little boy but heaven forbid if he doesn't get his way! We've entered the tantrum stage, and the whiney stage, and the defiant stage and it is not very fun. Whenever people would mention the terrible-twos, I would cringe. Two is nothing compared to three! :) He was very good two-year old. It's not that he's particularly naughty; he's just learned to use his emotions to the fullest extent.

The big news of the day is that he's going to go to preschool in the Fall! He'll be going 2 days a week (Tuesday/Thursday) from 9:00 until 11:30. He seems really excited about it and when we went to tour the church he jumped right in and started to play with the kids. I really like the program, as it doesn't focus so much on academics but on socialization. I think he'll greatly benefit being with the other children in his class. Oh, and mommy is looking forward to a little break too. ;)

For most of the late Winter and most of the Spring I have been taking him to different libraries for storytime. He absolutely loves it and has so much fun. I'm so glad he has such a great interest in books. Like mommy like son!

We've been working on using the potty lately too. He's doing a wonderful job so far. I am sure we'll have setbacks but I'm so proud of him and his success. I am hoping he'll be using the potty full-time during the day by his 3rd birthday.

We're also getting ready to transition him to his big boy bed. Since we've moved to this house almost a year ago we haven't done anything to his room. So we plan on painting, getting his new bed and bedding and making his room trully a big boy room. Everyone seems to think that we're weird because we've kept him in his crib for so long but he's never EVER climbed out and has always been extremely comfortable in it. Why change a good thing?

Keith has been working like a dog lately. Since getting his new(est) position at work it's not at all uncommon for him to be working 60+ hour weeks. It's taking a toll on him and he misses being here for Aaron. Nursery season will be done in about 8 weeks though so he can take it a bit easier then.

Our plans for the summer will include some home improvements. We've been here for nearly a year and haven't done much to the house. We want to (re) paint the kitchen and Aaron's room, put new fixtures in the bathroom, get new front doors and do lots of outside work.

We also hope to make it to Chicago soon to officially meet our newest niece Chloe Olivia. She was born on April 22nd and we can't wait to meet her. Erik and Cindy also bought a new house in Chicago and are doing extensive renovations on it. So that will be fun to visit so we can see their progress.

Here are some current pictures of the little man :)

Hanging out with the Easter Bunny!

Getting ready for his Easter egg hunt in our backyard.

Searching for eggies (Look at that red hair!)

He loved going to the butterfly exhibit at the Meijer Gardens!
