The beauty of working for a nursery is getting our own fresh cut tree every year. We have an artificial tree but who can beat the smell of a fresh tree right from the ground? This was the first year we got a fresh tree and it was worth being in the frigid temps for the experience. When we lived in NY Keith and I found an obscure farm where we'd pay $10 to cut the tree down. We took Aaron when he was 6 months old but he screamed the entire time because it was so chilly. Then there was the year Keith had ankle surgery so getting a real tree was completely out of the question, hence the artificial.
This year though, we all bundled up and went near Keith's work to get our tree. We searched and searched and after looking at 3 or 4 Aaron said, "How about this one? No? Then how about this one?" He quickly got bored running around the forest but we eventually found our beauty. We took a tractor ride back near the entrance and Aaron was delighted to get cocoa and cookies. He also liked sitting near the big bonfire.
We brought 'er home and got to work getting the place all spruced up for the holidays. We recently had our living room painted so it was a very pretty background for our decorations.
May there be peace and joy in your hearts this holiday season!
