Only 6 more shopping days until Christmas!

Do you have your shopping done? ;)

Keith's surgery was on Monday, December 13. Thank you to those of you who called to check in on us. We certainly appreciate your thoughts and well wishes. We were at the hospital at 7:30, Keith was brought to the OR at 8:30 and he was out of the recovery room by noon. We were home by 2:00 so it was a quick day! Keith's mom Maryann came down to watch Aaron for us which we appreciated a lot. It would have been a very long day trying to run around after Aaron in the waiting room at the hospital!

The surgery went well and the easiest way to describe what the doctor did is to say that he made a pimple into a dimple. He removed the tiny piece of floating bone (the part that was giving him the pain) from Keith's ankle and that left a 'dent' in the bone. It is the doctor's hope that the dent will fill with scar tissue and make Keith's ankle almost new. Keith's still in a bit of pain and has some swelling and discomfort but it's mainly due to the puncture wound from the doctor's probe.

He's on crutches for another week and then has to endure 8 weeks of physical therapy 3 times a week!!! Poor guy...I think he wishes he had this done many years ago so it would have been a quicker recovery.

Most of you should have received our Christmas card containing our family picture. I'll post last year vs. This year's picture and you can see how much Aaron has grown. The picture was actually a re-take and I'm quite bummed about it. Sears somehow 'overexposed' our roll of film and they called to tell us the first batch couldn't be printed. So we all had to put our outfits back on and get the photos redone a week later. The first session's pictures were MUCH MUCH MUCH cuter than the 2nd but we still managed to get a few okay pictures. We did get 1/2 of our money back though so I guess we shouldn't complain. It's a good thing it happened now though because I think I would have been much more upset if Aaron's 4 month pictures didn't come out. It's not like you can reverse time when a baby is growing! Plus, you can't really re-capture a good mood or a good smile on a toddler! :D

We took Aaron to see Santa at the mall after a much needed haircut. Santa was walking down the mall spreading holiday cheer and when Aaron saw him he got very excited. He said in the cutest, quietest voice, "hoho". It was so adorable and Keith and I were thrilled that Aaron took to Santa so well. I've seen many a child's pictures with Santa turn out not-s0-well. I think next year will be that much more exciting at Christmas because we think Aaron might understand the concept of Santa. We can't wait for that!

The bad thing about Keith's surgery is that we aren't able to travel to MI as we had planned. We're pretty sad and bummed about that (and especially since our Vernors supply has run out!!) but Keith's health is much more important right now. The doctor said that he could run the risk of infection or fever, or that he could develop a blood clot in his leg. It would really be a pain to be out-of-state and risk something dangerous like that. So instead we will be staying here in NY and enjoying one more NY Christmas before we move.

One exciting piece of news is that Keith's mom Maryann is engaged to her boyfriend Bob. They surprised us with the news last week when they came down to watch Aaron. They aren't sure when they'll be married but we are all thrilled for them.

We hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and may there be peace in your hearts all year long!
Merry Christmas!
